This 4-week class introduces adult and teen students to the basics of making images, discussing images and camera use. Students will learn how to think and see like a photographer, exploring the artistic and creative process of making an image. Using digital or film cameras students will complete weekly photo assignments in class and at home. The class will cover 3 major themes in photography: the portrait/self portrait, the still life and landscape. Students will review camera controls and aesthetic basics, from depth or field and framing of the image to more advanced concepts in image creation. Critique and analysis will be part of the course; talking about the photographs is an integral aspect of the photographic process. Class members will review the pictures either on the computer or in-camera. This is not a digital printing class.
