Hawk Henries: Eastern Woodlands Flutes and Music

  • Franconia Town Hall 421 Main Street Franconia, NH (map)

The Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire is celebrating Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Month with three community concerts presented by Maine artist Hawk Henries. Hawk plays original and traditional compositions on a wide variety of Native flutes -- antiques, replicas and many of his own creation.

Hawk is a member of the Chaugunabungamaug Nipmuc Tribe, descendants of the indigenous Algonquian people of southern New England. He sees music as a vehicle for building bridges of communication and mutual respect among people of diverse ages and backgrounds. During his five-day Arts Alliance residency he will also be playing for school audiences large and small, and in venues from preschools and nursing homes to prisons.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12, and $20 for families. Purchase in advance and save -- advance prices are $8 for adults, $4 for children and $18 for families. Arts Alliance members receive additional discounts. All are welcome; if the ticket price is a hardship, please pay what you can or come as our guest.
