The St Johnsbury Area Local Food Alliance's (St. J ALFA) mission is to strengthen our regional food system and increase food sustainability and security, so that all community members have access to affordable, healthy, locally produced food. St. J ALFA manages the St. Johnsbury Community Farm, an approximately 3 acre parcel of land resting between the Passumpsic River and the railroad tracks accessed from Old Center Road in St Johnsbury, Vermont. The Community Farm model cultivates the land as one large garden. Volunteers are the farmers and our community members benefit from all that is grown here either by taking food home in exchange for volunteer time or in deliveries to local meal sites and food shelves.
Herb Club with Melissa Laurita Kohl: No gardening or herbal experience necessary! Herb club is an informal club for children and adults who are curious about how to use herbs medicinally.
5:30-6:30pm - Those of us who are available can come early to help water, weed, and plant in the garden
6:30-8pm - Enjoy wandering and nibbling through the garden as you learn how to identify herbs in the garden and how to use them medicinally.
